OK, this might sound n00bish but...
Is it possible to change screen resolution without mucking in xorg.conf and without restarting X? I know that games can (if the right resolutions are defined in xorg.conf). Say I am running KDE and lets say I want to change from 1024x768 to 800x600. Is there a command I can issue from console to make this happen?
Also on the same topic how about colour depth? _________________ Current open source project: justCheckers, a cross-platform checkers suite. |

Try CTRL + ALT + Numpad+ and CTRL + ALT + Numpad-
The command line tool is xvidtune.
Additionally, KDE can add a screen resolution changing applet to kicker, look in kcontrol for enabling it.

As far as changing resolution on the fly hit ctrl, alt and + (pluss) or - (minus) on the numpad.

Sort of sucks... when I have a laptop that does not have a separate numpad. _________________ Current open source project: justCheckers, a cross-platform checkers suite. |

You could remap any key sequence to that combination. |
