Hi,
i have an problem with my AC'97 Sound drivers. The system knows my onboard sound, but every Sound is scratching an much to loud, so I am not able to playback *.mp3 's or playing games.
Does anyone know, what I can do to solve this problem?
Thank you very much _________________ Athelets row -- Others just play games |

Go into your alsamixer and reduce the master volume a couple of notches. The problem you are encountering is called clipping, and is where the sound card cannot handle the size of amplification you are asking for and ends up distorting the sound in trying.
Hope this helps

i reduced the master volume to the lowest lewel, but it didn'T help. Could it be that I have the false drivers for my sound device? _________________ Athelets row -- Others just play games |

Does alsamixer give you a huge number of mixer controls for your card? I find for mine that the master volume does nothing and I have to adjust the headphones volume to control the master volume, and make sure certain switches are toggled the right way to get it to play. If you do have that just have a play around with alsamixer and see what happens. |
