Moin,
Ich stehe im Moment etwas ratlos vor dem Problem, daß ich so langsam mal von meinem Kernel 2.6.11 auf 2.6.14 (der ja auch für x86 freigegeben ist) aufrüsten möchte. Und jetzt kommt das:

Latest version available: 2.4.28-r9
Latest version installed: 2.6.11-r5

Installiert ist also 2.6.11, aber die neueste Version ist 2.4.28? Ein beherztes "emerge gentoo-sources" liefert auch die Quellen von 2.4.28. Sehr komisch...
Natürlich könnte ich mir auch die Quellen von kernel.org ziehen, aber warum sehe ich die im portage nicht?

Danke für die schnelle Antwort, aber das ist es nicht. emerge --sync bzw. esync sind bei mir Pflicht.

Öhm, auf das Verzeichnis /etc/make.profile natürlich. 
Vielleicht meinst du /etc/make.profile/packages:

ich will darauf hinaus, dass es im profile stehen könnte, welche linuxversion genutzt wird.

Bis auf das letzte 2.4 ist es also mit deiner Version identisch. Könnte das die Ursache sein?
Als ich jedoch mal nachgesehen habe, existiert auch schon eine Version 2005.1. Sollte ich die verwenden?
Und wie erreiche ich das? Natürlich könnte ich einfach umlinken, aber ist das schon alles?

Danke, das wars! Ich hatte ne Zeitlang Probleme mit 2.6er Kerneln und hatte daher damals beim emergen den neues baselayouts gesagt, daß ich beim 2.4er bleiben wollte. Inzwischen hatte sich das Kernelproblem erledigt, aber das falsche Profil ist geblieben...
