|
|
Hi,
I'm installing gentoo on my new laptop which has two 1-Gb modules of ram for a total of 2Gb of ram.. The problem that I'm having now (after having completed the stage3 installation) is that "free" says I have only 1Gb of ram! What could be the cause? How could I try to solve this problem?
Thank you in advance for any suggestion! _________________ (Our) system as a whole is more or less the GNU system, with Linux added.

Have you compiled in support for High Memory in the kernel?
Code: | Processor type and features --->
High Memory Support (4GB) --->
(X) 4GB |

I added the High Memory Support but free always tells me that I have 905080 bytes of ram! Other suggestions? ![Sad :(](images/smiles/icon_sad.gif) _________________ (Our) system as a whole is more or less the GNU system, with Linux added.

Have you checked dmesg after boot to see what memory it finds. |

Sorry, it was my fault (I copied the kernel in the /boot directory without having mounted the boot partition), with the 4Gb support activated the whole 2Gb of RAM are recognized correctly
