I have plans on buying an used xbox to use for playing mp3s and playing video. I want to control it through both the controller and SSH.
How good is the sound quality from an xbox, I am only interrested in two channel stereo?
I have installed gentoo on a P3 PC from stage1. Is it much harder to install gentoo on an xbox?
How good are all the linux drivers for xbox?
how big are the performance differences with different distros when running on xbox?
Sorry for having so abstract questions, but I want to plan things better before I start with the heavy research and buy the console. |

apparently the sound is cool - you only get 2 channel in linux anyway

googling found me the howto
it is just the same as on a normal pc near enough, but you have to install the bootloader on a modchip or the xbox BIOS by soldering one wire (dont know which one)
havent got round to slapping gen on my xbox yet

there is not only "desktop" distributions for xbox
if i reemember well there is some "media center like" linux distributions specialy designed for the xbox |
