|
|
I have been using postfix for my smtp needs for a number of years, using a vanilla i.e. same as comes with ebuild configuration, only forwards email from clients on the local subnet etc.
On occasion I have to use a non linux device (phone, a friends windows machine etc), and I am need of a SMTP server to send mail.
(I am already using courier-IMAP-ssl to recieve mail)
I would like to setup postfix so that it will forward email from clients outside the local subnet if:
a they are authenticated
b they authenticate using ssl
c. but otherwise only forward email from client on the same network and to recieve email for my domains
any suggestion on how this can be done?
I am sure other users will find this helpfull, just couldn't find much info on it. |

I would be sorely tempted to go the other way.
Leave the system as it is at the moment, and add in squirrelmail.
I have this set up and it makes access from untrusted networks easy.
If your mobile has a fixed IP address, then you can ad that to your trusted networks in Postfix, and that will give you access from your phone too.
I do this for my work external IP Address, so I can use a normal email client at work. _________________ My Public Key
