Can you ping out side your network, like your DNS servers, or google?

Try traceroute www.google.com and see how far you get,

Also try traceroute72.14.203.99 and see how far you get

Both of those traceroutes resolve to google doing it by IP could help determine if it is a DNS problem.

What kind of router is it? Store bought like Linksys, netgear, etc or homemaid box with like iptables?

--Just a thougt hope it helps somehow

Have you set nameservers in /etc/resolv.conf?

If that's missing, you won't be able to resolve any domain names.

It sounds like a DNS problem and DHCP problem since the Ip's do not match (ifconfig and conf.d/net)

Check the output of the following commands:

# dig yahoo.com @68.87.64.196
# dig yahoo.com @68.87.66.196

Dig is part of net-dns/bind-tools
Root DNS servers: ftp://ftp.rs.internic.net/domain/named.root

So just typing in the below line returns nothihng?

# dig yahoo.com

But when you specify the DNS servers you have in your resolv.conf, you get the proper results?

What kind of router do you have?

Did you try setting your nameserver in your resolv.conf to your router ip? 192.168.1.1
If not, go ahead.

Also, do you get any messages when you restart your network adapter?

/etc/init.d/net.eth0 restart
