Hey all,
I've been trying for a few hours to get my sound working, and I know I am likely just overlooking something. Because the kernel config is so large, I have uploaded it as a txt instead here.
My sound is in a Dell Inspiron 5150:
Multimedia audio controller: Intel Corporation 82801DB/DBL/DBM (ICH4/ICH4-L/ICH4-M) AC'97 Audio Controller (rev a1)
I have searched the forums well, but have been unable to figure out what I am overlooking. I downloaded alsa-headers, alsa-lib and specified the kernel to support ALSA when I compiled it.
Any help would be appreciated! I will post any other config files if they will be of help. |

Try alsa-drivers instead of compiling it into your kernel _________________ Conrad Guide, Current Maintainer

Did you unmute it? By default, my AC97 is muted.
If you don't know how, just run alsamixer and press M to toggle the mute on a particular channel. I needed to unmute and raise the volume on both the PCM and headphone channels.... in kernel 2.6.14 they seemed to drop the headphone channel and use the master instead.
Whenever you reboot, the sound levels get reset, so you may want to rc-update add alsasound default. |
