|
|
First of all, why is OpenLDAP so bloody complicated to set up?
Oh well. As far as I can tell, I have set up everything far enough so I could do a little fucking around, but when I try using ldapadd, it borks. Behold:
Code: | # ldapadd -x -v -D cn=admin,dc=foo-bar,dc=com -W < foo.ldif
ldap_initialize( <DEFAULT> )
Enter LDAP Password:
ldap_bind: Invalid credentials (49) |
I am really sure that the password I am typing is correct, so either I fucked up while setting it up (twice? in the same way?), or something else is wrong. Personally, I think the following bit should set the admin I am trying to use above up so I can use the command above Code: | # The admin dn has full write access, everyone else
# can read everything.
access to *
by dn="cn=admin,dc=kunze-folien,dc=de" write
by * read |
Soo, did I miss anything else? I'm pretty new at this LDAP thing and I hate it already...
Alternatively, do any of you know a nice and easy config/admin tool (text/curses based, please) for OpenLDAP?
Thanks.
EDIT: I have a good admin tool now. Now I just need to reset the damn pw. _________________ If you loved me, you'd all kill yourselves today.

phpldapadmin (try saying that six times fast) looks good, but it really seems I got my admin pw wrong somehow. Anyway I can fix that? _________________ If you loved me, you'd all kill yourselves today.

Put your root admin password in your slapd.conf (or do it again if you have done it allready)
Code: | # slappasswd -h {MD5}
New password: <yourpass>
Re-enter new password: <yourpass>
{MD5}CY9rzUYh03PK3k6DJie09g==
|
Put this string in your config file (INCLUDING the {MD5})
Code: | rootpw "{MD5}CY9rzUYh03PK3k6DJie09g==" |
(for the example i used "test" as password)
You could also use slapadd in stead of ldapadd, but then shut down the ldap database first _________________ -- I'll eat it-- |
