Hi,

I would like to get a graphical boot sequence, like Bootsplash or Gensplash, on to a framebuffer provided by the IVTV driver.
This is a separate package, so not availible at boot, so there is a patch for mkinitrd that icludes all the needed files into an initrd file which loads the modules as quickly as possible. This all is reported to work well in Fedora Core.

How do I cram everyting into the same file in Gentoo? Were this door closed when choosing gensplash?

/Fredrik

As I recall, Red Hat's Graphical Boot system actually starts an X server very early in the boot process to accomodate the needed support. I'm not sure how feasible this is on Gentoo. :?

Hmm, ok, but there seems to be a way to get agraphical boot in Gentoo too, and that ability utilizes a framebuffer device, right? Usially, this seems to have been provided by the vesang feature of the kernel or a card specific framebuffer within the kernel. That I would like to know is how I may load the ivtv modules very early and get some graphics on there.
