|
|
I took a quick look and couldn't find this. Perhaps I was looking under the wrong topic. Anyway, I'd like to know how to make those bright candy colored windows decoration buttons in KDE. The buttons that maximize, close, etc. The closest I could get was using the "Glow" windows decoration but this was not what I wanted.
Any hints? _________________ After Perl everything else is just assembly language. |

As far as I know, nobody has created anything like that which was very usable. Somewhere on www.kde-look.org there's something like that, though. What relyt above here 'said' isn't what you're looking for. It gives you more of a Mac OS look than a Windows XP look (I think that's what you want). |

I've got that emerged. Do you know what settings I need to change to get the candy colored buttons?
I've already got the style set to "High Performance Liquid Mosfet ... ". Using "High performance Liquid" windows decorations doesn't seem to do it and there is nothing in the Mosfet's Liquid section that seemed to do it either. _________________ After Perl everything else is just assembly language. |

I keep seeing these things in KDE screen shots. Here is an example. The open window in the middle of the screen with the dark transparent background has yellow, green and red buttons on the top right corner of the window decoration.
I sure hope this is not a Windows XP look. **shudder**. _________________ After Perl everything else is just assembly language. |

Some weeks ago I made an ebuild for kwinacqua...
Code: |
USE THE .tar.gz ONE POSTING BENEATH....
|
Put it into $PORTDIR_OVERLAY/x11-themes/kwinacqua/kwinacqua-2.1.ebuild
You can get the variable $PORTDIR_OVERLAY with
Code: |
emerge info | grep PORTDIR
|
.. then...
Code: |
cd $PORTDIR_OVERLAY/x11-themes/kwinacqua/
ebuild kwinacqua-2.1.ebuild digest
emerge kwinacqua-2.1.ebuild
|
I hope it`s that, what you`ve searched for...
Greetings
Elias P.

Thanks EliasP! Both tarballed ebuilds emerged flawlessly. The Aqua decorations caused my KDE to segfault but the Aqua OS K works perfectly. Thank you so much! _________________ After Perl everything else is just assembly language. |

I think I`ll set the ebuilds onto bugs.gentoo.org...
So everybody can use them...

I am using the aquaosk window decoration with just one hitch. The text on my titlebar is all white in color, which is difficult to see. can this be changed.
Thanks |

Try this:
Controlcenter --> Appearance & Themes --> Colors --> Active/Inactive Title Text

So shoot me. I've never done this before and I'm feeling strangely lazy today.
How do I install these? Or should I just wait till they get in portage? |

Hi
Code: |
emerge info | grep OVERLAY
|
gives you the variable to your PORTDIR_OVERLAY.
In my case, it`s
If you don`t have defined this variable, do this in
Then become root and cd into your PORTDIR_OVERLAY
Create the directory x11-themes
cd into x11-themes
Untar the packages into x11-themes
Code: |
tar xvfz /path/to/files/aquaosk-2.0.ebuild.tar.gz
tar xvfz /path/to/files/kwinacqua-2.1.ebuild.tar.gz
|
Emerge them
Code: |
emerge ./aquaosk/aquaosk-2.0.ebuild ./kwinacqua/kwinacqua-2.1.ebuild
|
Greetings

Are they both slow for you? Aqua crashes on me which gives me Windows Without Borders [TM] so I only run Aqua OS K. If they are both slow for you, what is your system like? (If you don't mind my asking).
I'm on a i8200 w/ a 1.59 Ghz pent4 and a GeoForce2 video card. When I switched to Aqua OS K I think I noticed a very slight slowdown (probably about 100 ms or less) but I don't really notice now. _________________ After Perl everything else is just assembly language. |

I was just using Aqua OS K, with Mac-Style drop shadows.
On my P4 1.6GHz/GF2MX200, I could literally see the windows redrawing. I've just finished compiling kernel 2.5.68-mm2, though, and I tried it again. I dunno if it was the kernel, or something else I changed, but it seems a lot faster now.
I think most of what I thought was redraw lag is just the lag drawing the shadows.
One funny thing, though: In the "Configure Aqua OS K" tab, there are settings for the right-side button in the title bar. Only problem is... the button is on the left side of the title bar. |

Oh yeah, I forgot. The shadows sucked bigtime. I too could see windows redrawing.

I was confused by this too at first. There is a box up top that says "Colored (X - x) buttons on right side". If you uncheck this box then the text for the other boxes make sense. Otherwise s/right/left/g and you are all set. _________________ After Perl everything else is just assembly language. |

Thanks EliasP, good work!
I am usually too lazy to start making ebuilds (although it is not _that_ hard)... |
