nell'attesa di risolvere il problema che descrivo qui,
sono passato a questa configurazione:
rete wired & wireless ==> router ==> internet
la rete con il cavo mi funge perfettamente con queste impostazioni per un client:

come si sarà capito il router ha indirizzo 192.168.1.1
per lo stesso computer imposto questi valori per la rete wireless (dopo aver fatto ifconfig eth1 down)

ma non mi funziona nulla. La crittografia non c'è. Forse può essere utile sapere che in queste condizioni il omando route impiega tantissimo tempo a stampare le info (come se andasse in time out qualcosa)

hai anche un po' ragione...
questo riguarda direttamente le impostazioni della connessione, hai controllato che il router venga visto correttamente? iwconfig ti rileva il mac address dell'ap? |

si iwconfig vede benissimo l'accesspoint e il suo mac.
la cosa strana è che qualche tempo fa spippolando a caso ero riuscito a farla andare... |

credo che il problema sia nella impostazione del rate..

prova a dare un e ripostare iwconfig

avevo visto anche io quel problema con il rate..
comunque per risolvere tutto bastava staccare e riattacare il dongle 
il driver non è troppo stabile... |
