I am having problems getting ivtv 0.4.2 up and running with kernel 2.6.15-r10.
This is a P4 (x86) system with a Hauppauge PVR 250.
Code: | modprobe ivtv
FATAL: Error inserting ivtv (/lib/modules/2.6.15-gentoo-r10/extra/ivtv.ko): Unknown symbol in module, or unknown parameter (see dmesg) |
Code: | dmesg | grep ivtv

ivtv was insatalled with:
Code: | echo "media-tv/ivtv ~x86" >> /etc/portage/package.keywords
emerge ivtv |
I have tried compiling my kernel numerous times according to the various gentoo/ivtv/mythtv guides out there, but to no avail.
So what n00bish thing am i doing wrong?
Does anyone have a guide that is known to work for kernel 2.6.15-r10 and ivtv 0.4.2? |

Why are you emerging such an old version of ivtv? version 0.9.1 is marked stable for ~x86 so there's no need to add anything to your package.keywords
please remove that phrase from package.keywords and emerge ivtv in a regular way and see if that works.
If that doesn't work, may I suggest you update your kernel? A version of the 2.18 kernel may work better. _________________ webmaster van www.koenderoo.nl |

Each IVTV driver branch will only work with a specific kernel release, so 0.4.x version is needed for a 2.6.15 kernel
Can you try with more up-to-date 0.4.9 ivtv? It looks like you're missing some options in your kernel (at least VIDEO_DEV and I2C from your dmesg), and recent ivtv ebuilds added kernel configuration checks. So emerging it should give you details on which kernel options you may be missing. _________________ Routinely breaking NX, GNUstep, net-ftp, miscellaneous (llvm, filezilla, rdesktop, chromium, ...) packages |
