I have an HP 712/80 tha currently has HP-UX 11 installed. I want to (and who wouldn't) put Gentoo on it now...
The Problem is that I don't have a cdrom or a floppy drive. if I can boot up to HP-UX, which I can, should I be able to download the stage 1 tarball and go from there, or do I need the liveCD to boot from?
If push comes to shove, I can borrow an external scsi drive, but I'd rather go without if possible. _________________ Toast

you don t need to boot from the live CD , check out the gentoo alternative installation guide :
http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/altinstall.xml
there is a section about installing gentoo from another linux distro , I think this will works in your case. _________________ every step aim at glory. |
