Hi all,
I noted something that I guess no one else noted yet.
The Installing Gentoo Forum Description says:
Installing Gentoo
Having non-GUI problems with the Installation Guide? If you're still working your way through it, or just need some info before you start your install, this is the place. All other questions go elsewhere.
Since there is a GUI installer on the Gentoo 2006.0 LiveCD for the x86 version shouldn't this be changed? |

I think that the forum description still is true as people that use the GLI (Gentoo Linux Installer) are not having problems with setting up xorg/kde etc.
To make it less ambiguous, it could be changed to "Having troubles with the Gentoo Linux Installer of the Installation Guide? If you're still working your way through it, or just need some info before you start your install, this is the place. All other questions go elsewhere." _________________ www.gentoo.org.au || #gentoo-au |

Hi.
This is another reason to take into consideration cokehabit's suggestion. _________________ Jorge.

non-GUI refers to X and X based applications. I'll add a reference for GLI. _________________ Quis separabit? Quo animo? |

Hi,
I wanted to ask if it would be useful to change the description of one of the forums on the main page? Here's what it reads right now:
Quote: | Installing Gentoo
Problem with GLI? Having non-GUI problems with the Installation Guide? ... |
But given the fact that in today's Newsletter one can find:
Quote: | Bugzilla category change for the installer project
The maintainers of bugs.gentoo.org have removed the old "Gentoo Linux Installer" (GLI) component inside the "Gentoo Linux" category. Instead they have added an "Installer" component as a "Gentoo Release Media" subcategory. All the old bugs are already reassigned, and if you would like to file a bug regarding the installer, please use the new component! |
I think it would be consistent to change the description of the forum as well:
Quote: | Installing Gentoo
Problem with the Installer? Having non-GUI problems with the Installation Guide? ... |
So, I'd like to propose one small, cosmetic change: GLI -> the Installer.
Is it needed, first of all?
Regards,

Changing the description sounds like a good idea.
Merged last two posts from the report thread. _________________ KDE |
