It works awesomely great.
Fluidly smooth: Ati Radeon 9800Pro w/ P4 - HT
Equally smooth: Nvidia Geforce 2 Go on Dell Inspiron 8100 w/ P3 866Mhz !!! AMAZING !!!
BTW, downloading through bitorrent was actually faster than those mirrored iso's. |

Wow, this runs really great on my Laptop, Pentium-M 1,4GHz, Radeon 9700 Mobility. And seems to be really stable too.
Now off to install xorg7 _________________ Desktop: AMD Athlon64 4850e@2,9GHz| 2GB RAM | 500GB HDD

Please compile vfat into kernel (like the official livecd does) for the next release so that it's possible to boot it from a vfat partition after exacting all the files to hardisk. _________________ AMD Athlon XP 2600+; 512M RAM;

i tried this on my p4 nvidia5600 box and it worked great, the only thing was that i had to run "net-setup eth0" to get my internet working, after that... this was really cool and damn smooth.
i must say....... the wobbly windows are cool but it gets obnixous pretty fast.... it needs to be toned down a bit.
one more thing, any word on a KDE xgl live cd? hint hint nudge nudge
I haven't tried this on my athlon64 box because i don't like to shut it down but next time i do shut it down, (if i remember) i am gonna pop this in and see how it fares with a 64 bit cpu and nvidia 6800 _________________ MSI 865PE Neo2 FISR, p4 2.6c, nv 5600

On my notebook(Intel 855) graphic interface didn't lauch but my graphic card isn't listed in compatible graphic cards...
I think I'll install XGL on my computer, it is so eye-candy! _________________ Comme c'est à la mode de mettre la config de tous ses pc...

Thanks everyone.
I think KDE Xgl support isn't that great. It doesn't have all the great effects of Gnome, but I will play with it soon and see. And yes, if I can get that working I'll release a KDE version
Hauser, OK I can change that for the next release of course you could just use another kernel in the mean time
And thanks for the heads up about ppracer omp, I'll check it out.
Cheers,

If it freezes trying to start X or what not, you could ssh in and kill X etc.

Chris,
Thanks a lot for this very good work. However I was not able to play with the zoom functions as my keyboard is a 105 azerty and I was unable to switch it nor to change the locales. Could you provide others keyboard layouts for your next version?
Thanks in advance. _________________ Gentoo won't be suitable for server's use until GLEP 19 is alive. |

All I can say is that it kicks ass
My only complaints are that it is gnome and I could not get my dual monitor (twinview) setup to work no matter what I tried ;( Probably my fault. I have tried using composite transparency in the past, sucked. Tried looking glass, sucked. Your CD just rocked!
What support is missing in kde? |

And yes, if I can get that working I'll release a KDE version | Actually the effects would all be the same since in both cases you will be using Compiz as the window manager and it is Compiz that does all the cool effects. However, there is one problem with Xgl/Compiz on KDE and that is that you will still need gnome-window-decorator as the KDE one is not yet finished. Other than that, make sure you use the patched kdelibs from coffee's overlay so you won't get a lot of complaints about KDE apps misbehaving. _________________ meow. |

Is there any chance to get madwifi drivers supported? Or are they already there?

I am downloading it right now via bittorrent, I will leave it run to upload as long as I can. KDE support would be cool as well, as I am a KDE user, but I dont think I would mind switching if it was cool enough. _________________ Dont make it idiot proof, make it work.

Works like a charm on both Ati (X800pro and 9800xt) and Nvidia (4200 , 4400, 5600,5900 )
Did not work on Nvidia Quadro 2pro and GF2mx.
Hung during boot on Asus A8N-sli premium with 2x gf7800gt (sli) Athlon X2 3800 if that matters. Athlon XP and P4s all ok P3s no go (lame Vid cards)
So the chances are it will work on your machine - network worked on some not all.
Give it a go you wil be amazed. _________________ Old but active |

I've AMD 64 3500+
Nvidia GeForce FX5200
1GB RAM
Worked like a charm, really enjoyed it.
But after I rebooted the computer my onboard LAN disappeared from the BIOS.
I could not beleive it but after powering off my comp completely and starting it again
BIOS entry about my LAN appeared again. My motherboard is EliteGroup KV2 Lite with the latest
bios. Can anyone explain me how the OS can fool the BIOS that it does not have a network card?

I've just tried the live cd... it's simply AWESOME! It works smoothly on my Centrino 2Ghz with NVidia 6600Go.. Great job!
Now, I'd like to install it on my Gentoo installation, but I'll have to install Xorg 7 and Gnome.... I don't know if installing Xorg 7 will be so simple but I can't wait anymore!!! _________________ (Our) system as a whole is more or less the GNU system, with Linux added.
