Hey everyone. I had noticed that all the ebuilds for Courier-Imap were extremely stale. I thought that this was incredibly bad, so I took the ebuild for 4.0.4, and with absolutely no modifications whatsoever (aside from renaming the ebuild from 4.0.4.ebuild to 4.1.0.ebuild), it successfully emerged the latest version.

Here's a link to the bug I filed (along with the attached ebuild if you wish to use it): https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=124985

If you do use it, don't forget to manually download courier-imap-4.1.0.tar.bz2 from http://courier-mta.org/imap, copy it to /usr/portage/distfiles and run ebuild digest on the ebuild.)

By the way, just out of curiosity, does anybody know how likely it would be that the portage maintainers would choose to put this in the official tree? I want others to benefit from this as well (4.0.4 was SO old...)

We pretty much need a maintainer for it. Why don't you maintain it and become a dev?

I wouldn't mind maintaining it, but by the same token, I don't have much experience either, so I don't know if I would fit the job or not. If the powers at be ever decided to let me have a go at it I'd certainly do my best.
