|
|
Hi all,
I recently installed KDE 3.5.1 in my machine, everything was working beatifully and then one day when i turned
my computer on and logged through KDM all i got was a X term fixed on the bottom rigth of my screen.
But if i execute startkde from that term everything comes back to normal, except for that annoying xterm.
my rc.conf is set this way:
XSESSION="kde-3.5"
DISPLAYMANAGER="kdm"
there is a script in my /etc/X11/Sessions called kde-3.5 that never get executed.
Here is my kdm.log

I tried to reemerge KDM and also tried to delete the configuration files, but none have worked for me.
Can anybody help me?
Thanks

I think you need to edit your rc.conf file and change your display to kde.
EDIT*** I meant xsession. Uncomment it and change it to kde. |

Not so - the XSESSION should match the name of an available file in /etc/X11/Sessions, it says so in the annotations of rc.conf.
d_halla, what does your $HOME/.xsession_errors file say? |

My .xsession_errors file is present but empty, and when i check my enviroment variables
i get that neither XSESSION nor DISPLAYMANAGER are set, but EDITOR is as "/usr/bin/vim":
thanks for your reply _________________ Red is a slow colour |

Did you try logging in with another/a new user? If the problem's not there, your configuration files are probably to blame. _________________ Potato. |

apparently kdm was not complaining about my missing .xsession file, so i created it and put
it to start my kde session, everything is working now. _________________ Red is a slow colour |
