Ok... annoying problem!

My dear computer locks whenever I am tying to use it. It takes somewhere between a day (when idle) or 30 seconds for it to lockup, but eventually it will in all cases. It allways locks when I force the computer to work hard (for a while) but it hangs sometimes even when idle. At first I thought it was the graphic interface card (I had some trouble with it) but the lockups continued after I replaced it. ( I have disconnected the harddrives and dvds as well, but it didnt matter)
I have control on the temperature of the cpu and it seems to be normal - I have monitored both through lm_sensors and bios and it never go beyond 42C. The motherboard temperature seems to be normal as well (about 24C)

Ok... it seems that it is not a overheat problem or a graphic card problem.

I suppose it could be a memory problem - these are known to appear in strange ways. It could be a CPU problem.. or it could be a motherboard problem.

But how can I test this? What opption do I have. I can not replace any other part of the computer but the graphic card (and as I said - it was not it)

Please - some advice!

[EDIT]
Ok, I found memtest86+ and ran it ... it failed with a bang!
Can I assume that it is the memory units that is failing or should I run some more tests?
Some suggestions!?
[/EDIT]

What about your PSU? Could that be the part that overheats? :?

hmm.... doesnt seems like it... But I guess it could be.
I have no monitoring possibilities for my PSU but it doesnt feel warm and the air flowing out from it feels almost cold.
No dust or other things either... and the fan is working!

hmmm... After running burncpu and memtest86+ I have drawn the conclusion that one of the memory modules was broken. I have removed it and the computer have been running since, without any problems (I hope it will last!).
