|

OK after recompiling modules for the nic many time, i found the one that works. Its tulip btw (its weird the chip on the card says MX****).
Anyway i got it connected to the network. I can ping yahoo fine BUT...
If i let the ping goes for like few mins, i got data errors sometimes and the ping was like 1060ms.
So i let it keeps pinging and the errors occured frequently. So is it because of the card or the driver i compiled?? As i recall b4 i used other distro that has auto config nic, there wasnt error like this. And my main concern iis that i compliled the wrong driver.
Oh btw i'm just a newbie in Gentoo so please dont laugh at me :
Thanks

No laughing here, I promise.
From my experience yahoo is not the most reliable network to test (especially if their mail servers are anything to go by ) - does this error occur if you ping your next hop (probably your isp's machines) |
