Shorewall + IPSEC for 2.6.15?

I've set up shorewall and ipsec on my Opteron server with the fine instrucations in the gentoo wiki: [http://gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_Shorewall_Firewall_IPsec_VPN_and_2.6_kernel]. Now I'd like to upgrade to get FUSE but the patches mentioned in the instructions do not apply cleanly to the latest kernel. I did some digging and only wound up more confused about what is the situation with the functionality that's implemented in the patches.

I added a talk page onto the wiki article: [http://gentoo-wiki.com/Talk:HOWTO_Shorewall_Firewall_IPsec_VPN_and_2.6_kernel] (probably a totally wrong place but at least it's close to the original information) so anybody can check out what I was able to find out from there.

The question is that does anybody here have any idea about the status of netfilter + ipsec + NAT in the latest Gentoo kernels?

I'm not actively using fuse but you **may** want to try kernel 2.6.16+ as mentioned in the wiki page http://gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_Shorewall_Firewall_IPsec_VPN_and_2.6_kernel.
