|
|
Sorry if this question is easy to answer (it's hard to search
because you get too many hits).
The problem is that gentoo loads more modules than I want
when it boots. These are useful modules -- but I only need
them occasionally and I don't want them loading at boot time.
I want to load them by hand when I need them.
These include wireless modules (ipw2200), firewire modules,
ethernet modules, etc.
These modules are not listed in modules.autoload.d. So how do
I tell gentoo to not load these modules?
(is it just me, or is gentoo getting a little too automated ...)
TIA

Starting from 089 udev autoloads modules for recognized hardware (see here for details. With 087 the autoloading stuff is probably caused by the coldplug package. _________________ Adopt an unanswered post

Thanks for the enlightenment. For now, for me, the /etc/hotplug/blacklist
solves the problem. Hopefully 089/090 will be fixed by the time
I "upgrade".
Why, with more work like this, who knows
how much functionality can be hidden from and removed from the
control of the user!
Well, I'm sure it'll all be sorted out eventually. |
