this is what i get on an Apple iBook G4 after doing emerge -avDn world on tuesday:

Code:

/etc/init.d/net.eth0: line 184: syntax error near unexpected token `('
/etc/init.d/net.eth0: line 184: `     eval umods=( \"\$\{modules_${iface}\[@\]\}\" )'

and then it does not start the network.

any help?

i did also the etc-update and tryed to re-emerge baselayout.

Nothing wrong with that line. What bash and baselayout versions do you have?

Does it work if you downgrade bash to last stable 3.0?

I suggest you file a bash bug on bugs.gentoo.org and assign it to ppc (ppc64 if that's your arch). Post all information as possible, including emerge --info.
