|
|
Dear all, sorry for the title - but this is quite a difficult problem
to describe in a title. What is happening is that when KDE draws the box
around a button I hover over with the cursor, it does it wrong when the
button have a dropdown triangle on it.
This screenshot should explain it:
http://www.bits.bris.ac.uk/wellconnected/Pictures/Screenshots/KDE/Konqueror.png
This happens with everything from Konqueror to amaroK, as long as the
button has a dropdown traingle on it.
This is really annoying me. I have not destroyed my KDE, because if I do
as root, this problem does not occur.
Could anyone tell me what settings files to try to reset to fix this?
Thanks,
Riddick

Well, you should delete .kde*/ directories from your home. The downside of that is that you'll lose all your KDE settings. But since the problem doesn't appear as root it should help. _________________ Regards,

maybe this is a problem with a faulty theme or style? is the root user using the same window decorations? |

yes I think he is - I will try different styles though just in case.
Deleting everything in ~/.kde is not really a solution because I
have emails stores in KMail and a lot of other settings... I would
like to know a bit more spcifically what things to change!
I will try the themes!

Riddick | I dont use KDE, so I don't know either what to delete. I would do it that way : move your ~/.kde* somewhere else, then start copying stuff back to it until you'll find the problemmaker. Skip it and copy rest of the stuff Good luck _________________ Regards,

well, i have never experienced this problem, really. what happens if you change the iconsize, just for a try? you can set it back afterwards. does it look the same if you change iconsize? |

I restored ~/.kde/share/config/kdeglobals from a backup. All is fine.
Riddick
P.S. do we still put [solved] in the titles? |

well, it would be nice if you could compare both files and see what caused this in the first place
anyway, nice to hear that is solved now |

they are very long... and there will be quite a lot of differences -
if anyone wants the two files, I would be happy to prove them!
