Hi,
i can't get app-games/asc to install. The configure stage ends with the following error:
checking for PARAGUI - version >= 1.0.1... svgalib: Cannot open /dev/mem.
no
*** Could not run PARAGUI test program, checking why...
*** The test program compiled, but did not run. This usually means
*** that the run-time linker is not finding PARAGUI or finding the wrong
*** version of PARAGUI. If it is not finding PARAGUI, you'll need to set your
*** LD_LIBRARY_PATH environment variable, or edit /etc/ld.so.conf to point
*** to the installed location Also, make sure you have run ldconfig if that
*** is required on your system

*** you may also be able to get things to work by modifying LD_LIBRARY_PATH
configure: error: *** PARAGUI version 1.0.0 not found!

Are you installing it as root or a user ..as it would appear at a brief glance the app cannot access /dev/mem under the account you are running it under... _________________ Theres no substitute for C.I. |

I'm installing it as root and the permissions and ownerships for the device /dev/mem are:
rw-r----- root root |

This is a problem with the ebuild. Contact the ebuild maintainer about it, but for a workaround, disable sandboxing (see /etc/make.conf) for this one package.
"Sandboxing" locks an ebuild into a specific directory to ensure nothing is installed or accessed outside of it; this is a great feature of Portage. However, some less-than-intelligent configure scripts (such as this one) attempt to break out of the sandbox (/dev/mem). Most of these are caught and patched before release, but this one got by.
Please file a bug, otherwise no one will know it's broken. _________________ I don't believe in witty sigs. |
