Hello, I would like to know if someone uses a MSI K8N Diamond Plus motherboard under Linux. What I'm most interested into knowing is if the onboard Audigy SE included on this motherboard works under linux and what driver must be used. Does the onboard network adapter too and are there components on this board that doesn't work in Linux ?
Also, is this board a good board in general ? Did you have any issues, Linux related or not, with it ?

Thank you for your answers.

Hello,

I use a K8N Diamond plus myself under linux and can confirm that the two network adapters on the board are working under linux. About the Audigy SE I can't give you any information, because I haven't tested it. The rest of the components are working under linux as far as I know.

But in general it is a good motherboard and until now I didn't have any issue's with the board.

Thanks, it's good to know that the board is good. Anybody have tried the onboard Audigy ? If it doesn't work, I would go for a ASUS A8N-SLI Premium. It costs less, the sound is only a Realtek alc850 AC97, but it works under Linux and the chipset heat sink is completly passive.
Also, did anybody had problems with the MSI K8N Diamond + chipset fan ? It seems to be bigger, so I guess it's less prone to failure, am I right ?
Also, is there an old good gameport on this board ?

The only issue you can have with the chipset is, that is very close to the cpu. When you have a big CPU cooler you could problems.

I didn't find one at the board and the manual doesn't mention it. So no.

EDIT: I can confirm that the audigy is working in combination with ALSA and the ca_0106 driver :D
