I have to get to school now, but I will be out in a few hours (last final so I only am there for 2 hours). Once I am back home, I will fix the patch. I had to delete cvs-src/* and now it does fail. |

Maybe i overseen something, but is there a solution for Swing applications in Xgl ? I use few of them and all have problems displaying their contents (ie i get a window with background color of app, but without controls, menu etc). Of course i can start them in Xnest, where they run fine, but Xnest is too much unstable for me (it crashes for example when i move to another "desktop" via Ctrl+Alt+Left or Right - not allways, but often). |

nesl247, I know you haven't updated the xgl CVS ebuild lately but I just built the latest with a renamed xgl ebuild. The xgl-wrap-sdk.patch failed with that update, so I simply commented that epatch out of the ebuild. Later I looked at the patch and the source, and it looks like the patch has been included upstream, so next time you update this you can drop that patch from the ebuild entirely.
Thanks again! |

arghl, why doesnt this work any more?
since i upgraded my kernel few days before nothing fglrx related works any more. my suspend to ram is not working any more, no Xgl works (screen freezes so i cannot see what happens and have to restart my pc) and no restart of a normal x session. everything messed up by upgrading from 2.6.15-r[dont know] to 2.6.16-r8
anyone out there who can help me with this? :-/
i took the same sources (gentoo-sources) and used oldconfig to build my kernel, so it should not be that great change in graphical things... i thought
edit: atm i am using the radeon driver, which works much better. but i still cannot use suspend to ram any more and i cannot make use of my cards powerstates, what is possible with the fglrx |

Yup, I saw that yesterday too. I didn't have the time to file a bug report though. I worked around it by commenting that line out in the ebuild (there is nothing intel in my system). I got a similar problem emerging gdm from the overlay applying the timeout patch (which is already included in the release in portage) so I used the GDM from portage. If nobody else has already, I'll look for a place to file a bug report. |

Bumped mesa and xgl. And I removed that patch from the 20060524 ebuild. |

While there may be people in this forum thread who can help you, this sounds like it's not related to Xgl since completely unconnected things (suspend, power management) have gone wrong and xorg-server has problems as well. You might try posting this to Kernel and Hardware to get more expert help. |

It is deffinitely included? I need to know because if it is, I will remove gdm from xgl-coffee. |

well, i thought it would be a good place to post here, since there should be especially fglrx-users and therefor many Xgl users that have had to handle with these issues... but you're right, i'll search and maybe ask in the kernel subforums again |

Not as far as I can see: Code: | jdaluz@joehome ~ $ ls /usr/portage/gnome-base/gdm/files/
2.2.5 digest-gdm-2.8.0.7 gdm-2.13.0.4-esperanto.patch gdm-2.8-CVE-2006-1057.patch
digest-gdm-2.14.5 digest-gdm-2.8.0.7-r1 gdm-2.13.0.7-gdm-dmx-intllibs.patch
digest-gdm-2.2.5.4-r5 gdm-2.13.0.1-selinux-remove-attr.patch gdm-2.4.4-selinux_remove_attr.patch
jdaluz@joehome ~ $ ls /usr/local/xgl-coffee/gnome-base/gdm/files
digest-gdm-2.14.5 gdm-2.13.0.4-esperanto.patch gdm-2.14.0-xserver-timeout.patch
gdm-2.13.0.1-selinux-remove-attr.patch gdm-2.13.0.7-gdm-dmx-intllibs.patch gdm-2.4.4-selinux_remove_attr.patch
|
Interestingly, I have never had a problem with gdm from portage so I never used the patched version. I'm now on gdm 2.15.3 and there's still no problem. |

This is because the patch is now included in the official upstream release. |

Yeah, it is most likely included as 2.14.5 is in portage, and that bug was closed way back in april. |

Gotcha, included upstream rather than as a portage patch.
I guess this problem must be dependent on hardware speed or the like as I have never had to set the timeout. |

I just did an svn up on the coffee overlay and I get an error with missing mesa when I try to do an emerge -uDav world
Code: | Would you like to merge these packages? [Yes/No] y
>>> Emerging (1 of 21) media-libs/mesa-6.5.1_alpha20060524 to /
>>> checking ebuild checksums
!!! A file listed in the Manifest could not be found: '/usr/local/portage/xgl-coffee/media-libs/mesa/mesa-6.5.1_alpha20060421.ebuild'
|
Anyone know why?
Should I just clear it out and redownload the overlay? |

Just a curious, when will compiz support application mode, I enabled trailfocus plugin, but when I use gimp, when I open an effective dialog, the main editor window will be set transparent, I can't view the preview clearly.
So is there a plan to support application mode in compiz? |
