I honestly think that this should be moved to testing. It's unstable as hell.

I never had these errors until I switched to the updated version. I would just switch back, but somebody decided to remove all previous versions from portage. And I wouldn't be able to play on servers that have upgraded to the new version.
But yea... If anybody wants a log from the console I'd be more than happy to post it. I'm not the only person having problems with this:

Any other Gentooers having this problem?
Oh and yea in the first screenshot:
Plant mines, switch teams, switch back, mines still appear on radar even though they are not there. Still shows the PB error though.

Since 260b came out I've been waiting for ETPro to be updated. The only played server in my country (NZ) requires it. I haven't came across PB issues as yet. Could I be in for something? |

I doubt that will happen - it's far more important to get users to replace a version which allows remote execution of arbitrary code (see other threads). |

I get kicked from every server I play on for PB Violation 20004. If I use the old et.x86 binary I have no problems. So I just use both. The server I play on is trusted anyways... :) Just download the 8MB 2.6 update and extract the et.x86 file from it and copy it to your ET install directory with a new name.
You might have to run this:
echo "et.x86-2.60 0 0 direct" > /proc/asound/card0/pcm0p/oss
echo "et.x86-2.60 0 0 disable" > /proc/asound/card0/pcm0c/oss
Or whatever filenames you use. |

It should at least include some sort of note like when emerging a 2.6 or 2.4 kernel... |

I have the same problem
I tried to run the pbweb.x86 in the directory /opt/enemy-territory/pb as root and the punkbuster update client did some updates but I still have the same problem as you. I created a support ticket at http://www.evenbalance.com. I hope they will fix this punkbuster BUG otherwise there is one left game for us to play I was a happy person playing the Red Orchestra mod for UT2004 but it's became a pay game with no Linux support, I'll hate to see TrueCombat disappear because of this JUNKBUSTER issue |

You should also update your local profile in /home/<user>/.etwolf/pb just go into it as a normal user and type in terminal (also as normal user) /opt/enemy-territory/pb/pbweb.x86 |

I have the same here. But it seems a problem with the server's pb version, look this:
From online manual -Punkbuster For Players- (evenbalance.com):
"Since PunkBuster Servers require all connected Players to be running identical versions of all PunkBuster files in order to be authenticated for "clean" online play, the automatic update facility inside PunkBuster is an important component of the overall system. PunkBuster will retain older versions in case there is ever a need to connect to a Server that is still running old versions of the PunkBuster software."
If I update PB, using pbweb.x86 or pbsetup.run, I do a 'pb_ver' on game console before connect to any server and it shows me the last version (v1.279). When I connect to the server running the old version, I do a 'pb_ver' and it shows me the version that the server wants (ex: v1.213), and I got kicked with Game Integrity Violation 20004. After that, if I run pbsetup.run it shows me the older version and I have to update it again. On servers updated I don't have this problem.I think the only solution here is ask for server admin to update to the last PB version without this bug. |
