En desepoir de cause, je m'adresse a la communaute des Gentoistes (?! ca se dit ca?)
J'ai une Radeon 7000 VE/QY et un ecran plat Dell 1702FP UltraSharp, et pas moyen de faire demarer X.
Quand je "startx" j'obtiens un ecran noir avec le pointer de la souris au mileu; un Ctrl-Alt-Backspace plus tard il me dit:

Si je remplace le Driver "radeon" par "vesa" dans XF86Config (pour avoir X, meme pouri):

J'ai essaye beaucoup de choses depuis une semaine, mais rien ne marche, Help!

Je n'ai pas de radeon désolé :| .
Par contre, pour le VESA, ne devrait-il pas y avoir qque chose comme ça dans ton XF86Config :

il me semble qu'avec les drivers ati il y a un petit programme qui génère un fichier XF86Config.
je crois que c'est:

es-tu sur que le nom du driver pour les cartes radeon est radeon et pas autre chose.
Par exemple pour les anciens driver nvidia le driver c'était pas nvidia mais NVdriver.

Si tu lui bien le message tu comprendra que le driver radeon cherche à activer la prise en charge du mode DRM et ne trouve pas le module du noyeau qui gère ceci.

Causes probable :

- Dans ton noyeau, dans la rubrique "character devices" tu as activé l'option "Direct Rendering Manager (XFree86 DRI support)" et tu as oublié de séléctionner le module "ATI Radeon" sous cette rubrique...

- Le module du noyeau n'est pas chargé dans ce cas il faut simplement le charger avant de lancer XFree86 (modprobe r128), et le placer dans /etc/modules.autoload pour être tranquille par la suite...

Pense aussi à décommenter la ligne "load "dri""...

OK, j'aurais du donner plus d'info:

les drivers sont bien fglrx si ont emerge ati-driver ce qui ne concerne pas ma carte graphique (radeon 7000 FE/QY), et donc exit le fglrxconfig (que j'avais de toutes facon essaye sans succe...).

Pour le DRM, j'ai essaye avec (sans succe...) puis sans en emergent secondairement xfree-drm. Rien de tout cela ne fonctionne.

D'autres idees?

Pour ma part je possede une Radeon Vivo 64 Mo (7200)
avec XFree 4.3 , j'ai eu aucun probleme alors que avec les anciennes versions c'est vrai que c'etait tendu.

Sinon j'ai déjà eu le message de symboles non résolus pour le module DRM.

Je check ca en rentrant tout a l'heure.
