I don't think this is a problem, per se, but I'm curious about NTP behavior between my NTP server and clients. I hope this is the correct forum for this. Anyway, I notice that my NTP server, which is connected via DSL to the 'net typically has low jitter values, averaging about 5, but my clients, which are connected to the LAN via wireless and sync to this server, often have jitter values in the hundreds. This is the case even when I have them sync directly to a 'net server. Would the wireless be the culprit here? I'm thinking there is just enough latency in the wireless to cause these high values. Just curous. _________________ Gentoo x86

I bet it's the latency. What are the ping response times from your DSL to ntp server and from your wireless connection to ntp server? _________________ Yes, I'm the man. Now it's your turn to decide if I meant "Yes, I'm the male." or "Yes, I am the Unix Manual Page.". |

From my server to the DSL:
0.438/0.576/1.221/0.289 ms
From one of my clients to the server:
2.434/2.665/2.884/0.165 ms
It's got to be the latency. _________________ Gentoo x86
