|
|
Hi! I've installed Gentoo and my problem is that I want to allow normal users to mount the cdrom drive. I've tried (as root):
Code: | gpasswd -a aesop cdrom |
and I thought this would enable the user aesop to access cd-rom drives. But it doesn't help. Please, do you know some trick how to achieve it? Thanks in advance. |

you need to edit your fstab so that the entry for your cd-rom drive includes the option "user" or "users". if you use user, every user can mount it but only that user can unmount it, if you use users, then every user can mount it and every user may unmount it, even if someone else mounted it.

Thanks, it works now. For a newbie like me the manual pages are often too complicated... |

Moved from Installing Gentoo to Other Things Gentoo.
[mod]Since this is a post-install question about a general console issue, I believe it belongs in OTG.[/mod] _________________ Jorge.
