|
|
I'm dialing into a modem, and I haven't done this in ages. If I'm getting garbled characters (those smiley-faces, and hearts, spades, diamonds...etc), this must mean my settings are incorrect.
However, what do I change? Parity? Flow Control? Compression?
I've played with the settings, but it seems I'm getting nowhere. The system gives me a repetition of:
and ends with:
...which appears to be the Hayes command for "Places the line on-hood and stops communication with modem on other end."
Any ideas as to which settings I could try with success? Where can I learn more about these types of troubleshooting techniques? Very few documents cover modem connections now... _________________ s/(?<!gnu\/)linux(?! kernel)/GNU\/Linux/gi
Don't blame me. I didn't vote for him.
