edit: i have a problem booting the above kernel the code following are the last lines of info my comp gives me, after that i only have a blinking cursor and nothing more, no reaction on ctrl-alt-del or something else /edit

Code:
Total HugeTLB memory allocated, 0
Installing knfsd (copyright (C) 1996 okir@monad.swb.de).
io scheduler noop registered
io scheduler deadline registered
io scheduler cfg registered (default)

what could be the problem and how can i solve it?
i'm not sure where to search the error, i installed gentoo before and it ran without bigger problems

any idea?

edit: changed the title to make it more clear, seems to me that the io-scheduler isnt the problem cause the kernel can load the real time clock driver (as told some posts below) after the io-sched.

Er, what is the problem there, actually? All I see is a bunch of informational messages with no errors or warnings.

Edit: Ugh, I'm being stupid (didn't read the thread title ). But you wil have to provide us with more info - such as what kernel you compiled, if using genkernel or a custom compile, whether or not you compiled in support for your disk drive controller, etc.

hmm, i think looking for the error takes more time than going thru the install-process again.
would be nice to find out what the problem was, but first i want a running gentoo :)

on an
AMD64 X2 4400+ AM2
Asus M2N4-sli

i used the standard settings of the menuconfig, only removed some drivers (network etc)
i double checked to have every point thats mentioned in the installation manual compiled into

It seems that I've the same problem - see: https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-490263.html

I also use kernel-2.6.17-gentoo-r4 with an
AMD Mobile Athlon XP 2600+ on an MSI K7N2 Delta mainboard...

hi, i've senn your thread before i wrote mine but i thought it was another problem cause your system stopped after RTCD, now you deactivated it and it really seems to be the same problem.

i tried to configure a kernel using
genkernel all
but that didnt help. now it hangs after checking ... i think it was PCI-slots IRQs or things like that...
gotta write it down here i think, cause it might give another hint to the problem

argh, i wanna use that monster of a computer... and i dont wanna install some cracked windows-crap

edit: ok, thats the whole info i can see on my crappy 15"-braunsche-röhre
Code:
PCI: If a device doesn't work, try "pci=routeirq". If it helps, post a report
TC classifier action (bugs to netdev@vger.kernel.org cc hadi@cyberus.ca)
