|
|
Alright, i am sick of Darwin, Fink, and finding and compiling src.
SOOO....
i really wanna help develop portage for OS X x86 . . . .
how many of you out there have an x86 OS X machine that would like to help?
I have no clue where to even start, i have used Gentoo for years, so i figure i can tool around enough to get something setup.
Anyone know any helpfull clues and hints?

naw, that thing isn't really for OS X x86, and it crashes hard, i have been working with it with no avail.
really i would like an integrated gentoo, not a prefix, but i will take what i can get. i have been wondering if i just do a standard x86 build package with freebsd profile if it will work.
anyone got anything to work with the x86 os x? most of my builds crash, can't emerge system, i have been piecing together stuff, but most of it crashes.

Why would you want to emerge system on a x86 OSX? It would have already been optimised since it is an OS build by Apple for their own computers, unlike Windows... _________________ Sunnz's corner - sunNZ.Net forums |

mostly because a lot of the programs/libraries are outdated, which keeps you from compiling a lot of source out there. |

- Limit the scope of what needs to be done first ( getting portage working )
- Identify specific and repeatable problems
- Centralize information
- Talk with existing developers we can find on Tiger if they have tested this stuff out on intel x86
- Any information that is found should be put on http://gentoo-wiki.com/Gentoo_MacOS (Success and exact methods especially)
- Start creating new bugs on the gentoo bugs page as soon as they are found
- Everyone interested should get on the IRC page #gentoo-osx |

This is dead, so don't invest in it, please.

Well, since that channel is pretty abandoned, I'd highly appreciate it if you could just subscribe and post on our gentoo-osx mailing list. See the lists page on www.gentoo.org for information on how to subscribe. _________________ Gentoo on a different level |
