Just got a 1.66GHz Mac mini (MA206LL/A). Specs is here:
http://www.apple.com/macmini/whatsinside.html
As always, the first thing is to install gentoo on it. Installed boot camp, but won't run, complaining need firmware update (but I just updated the firmware!),
Anybody has successfully installed gentoo on it? From what I am reading from this forum, "elilo" might be another choice. How exactly is this done? For me, boot the machine from a linux CD will be all what I need. The machine will be used as a web server. |

If you have really updated the firmware, it will be sufficient to insert the Gentoo Live CD, reboot the machine, press "c" and wait for the Gentoo screen. However, you should partition your harddisk under OSX first!
The best thing to do is follow the guide on how to install Gentoo on a MacBook: http://gentoo-wiki.com/HARDWARE_Apple_MacBook
The machines are rather similar, so it should work out for you! |

It turn out manuallu downloading the 1.01 firmware and update to it solved the boot camp problem. Now live happily with gentoo on Mac mini, the sexiest machine plus sexiest operating system! |
