Hallo zusammen,
ich jetzt gentoo auf meinem neuen Rechner installiert. (Daten siehe unten)
Da es bei der installaton von Xorg-X11 7 probleme mit dem paket 'libX11' gab musste ich die Xorg version 6.8 installieren.
Naja nachdem ich dann noch ein paar programme die ich brauche installiert habe, ist mir aufgefallen das noch gar keine ' /etc/X11/xorg.conf '
existiert.
Naja wie dem auch sei, ich habe eine Nvidia Geforce 7600GT von Asus.
Ich hatte eigentlich jahrelang immer ATI Graphikkarten und weiss deshalb ueberhaupt nicht was ich jetzt so installieren muss.
Welche treiber etc.
Ich habe momentan xfce4 installiert und das funktioniert auch. (Obwohl ich noch keinen einzigen treiber installiert habe und auch eine xorg.conf nicht existiert)
Gibt es vllt irgendwo eine anleitung nach der ich vorgehen kann.
Bin eigentlich noch Gentoo newbie !

Cpu: Amd Athlon 64 X2 4600+ EE
Board: Asus M2N32-SLI Deluxe
Graphikkarte: Asus Nvidia Geforce 7600GT

Ok, und was muss ich danach noch machen ?
Ich meine: Ich brauche doch sicher eine Xorg.conf, oder nicht ?
Ich will da ja z.b meine Maus einstellen! Weil im moment funktioniert das Mausrad ja nicht und das nervt tierisch!
Ausserdem hab ich im Graphischen nur die US keymap!
EDIT: Muss ich eigentlich irgendwas im Kernel einstellen?
Danke fuer die zuegige Antwort.

Ich hab mir diesen Nvidia-guide jetzt schon ein paar mal durchgelesen, aber ich verstehe es immer noch nicht.
Ich habe die 'nvidia-driver' installiert. 
In der anleitung steht jetzt aber das man 'nvidia-kernel' und 'nvidia-glx' installieren muesste.
Das kann ich aber nicht, weil das paket 'nvidia-drivers' das paket 'nvidia-kernel' blockiert.
Ich bin jetzt wirklich verwirrt und weiss nicht was ich als naechstes machen soll.
Kann mir jemand weiterhelfen ?

'nvidia-kernel' und 'nvidia-glx' wurden zu 'nvidia-driver' zusammengefasst.
Da du die 'nvidia-driver' installiert hast hast du das "neuere" und alles ist gut.
Als nächstes solltest du xorgconfig ausführen und dich durch das was dann da erscheint durchhangeln. Da kannst du erstmal nur den Nvidiatreiber von Xorg (nv) wählen. Darum musst du nachdem xorgconfig die Config erstellt hat diese noch mal editieren:
bearbeite /etc/X11/xorg.conf (die ist dann nach xorgconfig da)
suche
Driver "nv"
und ersteze es durch
Driver "nvidia"

nvidia-drivers ist das aktuellste Paket. Es ersetzt nvida-kernel und nvidia-glx. Also anstelle von zwei Paketen mußt du jetzt nur noch eins installieren. Wenn du nvidia-drivers drauf hast, ist alles ok, dann brauchst du nvidia-kernel und nvidia-glx nicht mehr.
nvidia-drivers ist erst vor kurzem rausgekommen, da wurde die Anleitung noch nicht angepaßt. |

Die Treiber installieren ist wirklich relativ einfach:
Nachdem du ein "emerge nvidia-drivers" gemacht hast solltest du dir, wie oben schon erwähnt, zunächst eine xorg.conf erstellen lassen. Das geht mit xorgconfig oder alternativ auch mit "X -configure".
Wenn du dann eine xorg.conf hast musst diese nicht von Hand bearbeiten sondern führst einfach "nvidia-xconfig" aus. Dieses Tool passt deine xorg.conf automatisch so an, dass der nvidia Treiber verwendet wird.
Abschließend musst du vor dem ersten start von X noch einmalig ein "eselect opengl set nvidia" ausführen, damit die OpenGL-Architektur von nvidia benutzt wird (ansonsten hast du hinterher keine Hardwarebeschleunigung bei OpenGL Anwendungen).
Wenn du dann noch Probleme hast mit Mausrad oder Auflösungen oder sowas, dann poste am besten erstmal deine xorg.conf hier, dann können wir dir weiterhelfen.

Hallo zusammen,
herzlichen Dank fuer eure Antworten!
Jetzt habe ich eine xorg.conf erstellt.
Ich hatte beim starten von Xfce4 das problem das er '/dev/mouse' nicht gefunden hat.
Dann hab ich in der xorg.conf 'dev/input/mouse0' angegeben und dann gings.
Er hat aber auch noch was wegen irgendeinem glx oder so gesagt.
Wie kann ich nachschauen was für fehler es noch gibt ?
Deutsches Tastaturlayout hab ich schon, das Mausrad funktioniert allerdings noch nicht.
Es wäre wirklich toll von euch wenn ihr mal meine xorg.conf durchsehen könntet.
Weil an manchen stellen bei diesem 'xorgconfig' wusste ich nicht genau ob ich jetzt das richtige gemacht habe.
Vllt noch ein paar Informationen zu meiner sonstigen Hardware:
Bildschirm: 19" TFT Samsung SyncMaster 970P
Tastatur und Maus: Cherry CyMotion Master XPress (angeschlossen über ps/2)

DeBeukelaer: Danke für deine Hilfe. Ich weiß immer nie ob das was ich gemacht hab richtig war und bin mir dann immer total unsicher, weil ich will es schon genau machen.

Der Klick des Scrollrades ist Button 3.
Hm, dann scheint er ja die Buttons 4 und 5 nicht zu sehen :-/
Du könntest einmal gucken ob das Scrollrad irgendwas sendet. Dazu kannst du "xev" benutzen (emerge xev, falls du modulares X hast)
Da kommt bei mir sowas raus:

Könntest auch mal versuchen das Protokol zu ändern:
statt
Option "Protocol" "PS/2"
z.B.:
Option "Protocol" "Auto"
