Q wrote: | Where does the firebird ebuild put the mozilla that it downloads?
I had mozilla 1.4a installed prior to installing firebird. When I run mozilla the mozilla start page still detects the browser as 1.4a. I am pretty sure that firebird did grab mozilla 1.4b. |
From the ebuild:
Code: | # Where do you want to go today ?
FIREBIRD_PATH="/usr/lib/mozillafirebird"
|
So if you still have /usr/lib/mozilla unmerge mozilla and firebird. After that, re-emerge firebird and it should work. |

After deleting tons of whitespace, here is my copy of the ebuild:
http://www.geocities.com/fakuban/mozillafirebird-cvs-0.6.2003.05.25.ebuild.txt
It installed for me, so maybe it will work for you. Just make sure to remove the *.txt extension (geocities wouldn't accept it as a *.ebuild).

If copy and past is such a prolbem can't just the ebuild be linked/attaced in a correct file? |

i've tried everything, deleted everything related to mozilla and phoenix, recompiled many times with different flags for i686 or pentium3, -03 -02 -0s, commenting out -strip-flags, compiling from tenpin's post, and the ebuild on the first page of this forum, no compile errors from what i notice, but if xft is enabled, i can only run as root
this must be it because tenpin's .mozconfig settings don't include xft and it runs as a regular user, i added --enable-xft and export MOZ_ENABLE_XFT=1 to tenpin's .mozconfig and it acts like the ebuild does, runs only as root, even though both MozillaFirebird-bin's have the same permissions. |

This is caused by a permission problem with your fonts. Make sure everyone can read your fonts directories/files. |

Enough with script development via the forums. Post the ebuild to portage, already. |

yeah, um portage? get it in there...
although according to those running breakmygentoo.net, the gentoo devs no longer want alot of CVS/unstable stuff in the portage tree, which i dont understand because anything ~x86 is assumed to be 'use at your own risk'... |

I just got this error after compiling phoenix-cvs:
/usr/bin/phoenix: line 16: /usr/lib/phoenix/phoenix: No such file or directory
I just changed a couple lines in the phoenix bash script to point to MozillaFirebird instead of phoenix and it worked. Why isn't this updated? |

Yes, I get that as well. Then I go to /usr/lib/phoenix and find MozillaFirebird file that expects MozillaFirebird-bin(in the same directory) to be in /usr/lib/mozilla(which exists). Running MozillaFirebird-bin just segfaults. _________________ The Congress shall have power...To promote the progress of science and useful arts, by securing for limited times to authors and inventors the exclusive right to their respective writings and discoveries; --U.S. Constitution. make sure you have blackdown-jre installed then make a symlink
Code: |
ln -s /opt/blackdown-jre-1.4.1/plugin/i386/mozilla/javaplugin_oji.so /usr/lib/mozillafirebird/plugins/javaplugin_oji.so |

Or:
Code: | # cd ${MozillaFirebird}
# rm plugins/ -R
# ln -s /usr/lib/nsbrowser/plugins |
All plugins you were using with mozilla should be available now.[/code] |

Looks like this is fixed in -r3 of mozilla-firebird. |

i begin typing the beginning of a page i visit frequently, select the page from the location bar, and then from time to time, instead of the page popping up, a new tab window will open within firebird, and this page will open up: http://download.startsurfing.com/ |
