hey guys, i am trying to get the new tomcat working with apache2 and ran into some problems....
i was following the new proceedure located at
http://gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_Apache2_and_Tomcat5
I emerged tomcat, apache already worked as it's been there for a while, i ran etc-update and merged the files for tomcat.. when i try to start tomcat i get this..

/sbin/start-stop-daemon: stat /opt/tomcat5/bin/catalina.sh: No such file or directory (No such file or directory)
[ ok ]
gretch www #

when i list the contents of /opt/tomcat5 i get

webapps work

anyone have any ideas, tried googling but to no avail... thanks in advance folks!
edit:
another question, why are there /etc/init.d/tomcat5 and tomcat-5.5 scripts, /etc/tomcat5 and /etc/tomcat-5.5 directories... but i only emerged tomcat..... can anyone clarify??

no one has any idea about this tomcat issue????
shouldn't be all too uncommon...

I hate that wiki, forget the wiki.  Official docs are not on the wiki. Die wiki die. Anyway, try using Tomcat 5.5.17 and if you have to 5.0.28. Use the ~arch ones in portage. Those are being maintained now, but me. There is a guide sorta, with Gentoo specific info on it as well. Gentoo Tomcat Guide. Let me know if you have any problems or questions. I am not on the forums much. Mostly IRC and mailing list. |
