|
|
Hi,
I just added two 512MB sticks of RAM to my box in addition to the 256MB that it came with. This gives me 1310720 bytes (1.25GB) of RAM total. BIOS is reporting this correctly at boot up, but the KDE Info Center only reports 881.76MB of physical memory.
Is there another way to verify that the OS is detecting/using the correct amount of memory?
Thanks! _________________ nadams (at) ieee (dot) org |

Do you have "High Memory Support" enabled in the kernel? It's in the "Processor type and features section. |

About this there is the 'free' command. _________________ I may not agree with what you say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it. |

quattro: High mem support was off! I changed it to 4GB, and I am now recompiling. If I were a betting man, I would say that this will fix the problem. Thanks! By the way, nice nickname. I have a buddy from college who we called 'quattroooooe" because of how proud he was of his old audi.
bsolar: thanks for the tip! _________________ nadams (at) ieee (dot) org |
