I have searched through here to see if any one else was having problems with audio. I don't get anything at all. I have copied the cd to my hd with no problems. I even ran it from the cd to see if it would give me sound. That didn't work either. I can play .ogg, mp3, wav. Videos also have sound. It's kind of difficult to play this game without it. Helps to be able to hear what direction foot steps are comming from.
My system
P42 gig
640 ddr
GeForce 2
onboard ac97 sound
Evil Entity DR 2.5 (yes I know it's not gentoo)
I am thinking it's something to do with the on board sound. Or the fact that I use enlightenment wm. Anyone else out there having a similar problem? |

Do you have some sound daemons like arts or esound running? Or maybe something else that occupies the sound device? xmms, rhythmbox, ... ? _________________ Life is like a box of chocolates... Before you know it, it's empty... |

Same problem here, no audio in AA:O - plenty of audio in GNOME though - tried killing esd but it seems that the device doesn't exist.
Running ALSA 0.9.4 on Gentoo-sources 2.4.20-r5 with my Live! 5.1 (emu10k1) card.
lovechild@pilot System $ ./armyops-bin
open /dev/[sound/]dsp: No such device |

I am thinking that maybe I should have posted my problem then asked who had audio working on thier AA install. Find out what hardware, OS etc they are running.
I also wonder how many other people are running into this same problems and haven't found this thread yet. |

hehe, I have sound now - I compiled a 2.5.71-mm1 kernel and made sure the correct links were in place.
Only to discover how much this game stinks.. wasted effort. |

Looks like I will have to try setting up a new kernel. Haven't done that before, but what the heck. How hard could it be. Besides it's not like I don't have back ups if I screw my system totaly.
Lovechild. AA is sort of an aquired taste in a game. |
