I would really like to play music from a Linux computer to a Windows computer's speakers; something like NAS without Cygwin. How would you do this? _________________ [ Kawa-kun, new and improved!! ]

You can either make your Linux disk available to windows across your LAN using SAMBA or use a streaming server on the Linux box like Jinzora or MPD streaming to whatever client on your windows box. _________________ Smaug: Sun Netra T1 105, UltraSPARC-IIi 440MHz, 512MB, 2*36GB 10kRPM; 2 Sun Netra D130: 6*36GB 10kRPM, swraid 0

Nevermind that; is there a way to set up a custom port in Jinzora? _________________ [ Kawa-kun, new and improved!! ]

You can find the ebuild for Jinzora here:
http://overlays.gentoo.org/proj/webapps/browser/experimental/www-apps/jinzora?rev=184
About the custom TCP port... don't know actually...
Probably depends on how you set-up your webserver as it is web based?
Maybe it is on their site over here:

I had no trouble setting it up with a custom port, as far as the access panel goes, but I can't seem to stream it over a custom port to WinAmp: it gets a 404 error when using IP:Port notation. _________________ [ Kawa-kun, new and improved!! ]

I'm *almost 100%* certain it uses whatever port that MPD and Icecast (in my case) are set up for. I *am* using a custom port, which is set in both my MPD and Icecast configure files (I'm not using ices - just straight from MPD to Icecast, which the SVN build for MPD can handle).
Naturally, the web interface uses whatever port Apache (or whatever) is on, which is also a custom port in my case. All works fine. _________________ Carlton Stedman
