U mean aiglx??
If so, your card is not supported (yet) neither by the fglrx (proprietary) driver nor by the radeon (open source) driver in order to operate properly with aiglx (GLX_EXT_texture_from_pixmap is missing). Only r100 and r200 chipsets are supported, and i think your's (x300) is r400 while mine is r300.
check this for the graphics cards that are know to be working with aiglx.
In fact only the newest beta nvidia driver supports the GLX_EXT_texture_from_pixmap extension of xorg7.1, so if you have an nvidia card you are a lucky man, but if you have an ati card, you try with XGL from here or you cry for wasting your money buying an ati card (like me ).
I have been running xgl for quite a while on my laptop and it is a real killer if you want production. It just sucks up too much memory and cpu for xgl. I also tried the beta nvidia drivers and aiglx (from the link i gave you) with my old good geforce4 mx 4400 on my desktop. It totally RULES over xgl.
The bottom line is: just imagine how crappy are ati's fglrx drivers, radeon 9700 (which is supposed to be like 2 generations better than nvidia's mx4400) is a lot worse and unstable that nvidia's geforce4 mx 4400 and the beta drivers. NEVER BUY ATI AGAIN. |

That is very strange : yes ati drivers support xorg 7.1, but not aixgl extension...
elKano if you are using fglrx+beryl+aixgl, you must explain us please !!!! _________________ A New York les taxis sont jaunes, à Londres ils sont noirs et à Paris ils sont cons. Frédéric Beigbeder |

Nah, sorry, you're right. I just went too happy when I saw GLX_EXT_texture_from_pixmap appear in glxinfo after my last update; but I still can't make it work all right. _________________ -----BEGIN GEEK CODE BLOCK-----

There is a lot of wrong information in this thread. It's possible to use aiglx with the opensource r300 driver. If you want to use fglrx you need Xgl. Thats how much I know and in my humble opinion is true _________________ Workstation: 5.1 SurroundSound, LIRC remote control; Laptop [IBM-T43]: patched sources, s2disk/ram, fingerprint sensor |

Yes I already tried to use aiglx+r300+beryl and it worked quite fine except scrolling into some applications like firefox... _________________ A New York les taxis sont jaunes, à Londres ils sont noirs et à Paris ils sont cons. Frédéric Beigbeder |

The whole discussion is about fglrx and their support for aiglx , NOT about the open source driver who does support aiglx. |
