|
|
I don't know if these problems are related but when I try to do a 'emerge sync" I get the the following error:
@ERROR: Unknown module '*'
rsync: connection unexpectedly closed (953 bytes read so far)
rsync error: error in rsync protocol data stream (code 12) at io.c(165)
I can see the MSOD, logos etc from the server but I get the error.
I resolved this problem by running the emerge_websync scipt, that seemed to work.
I continued to 'emerge -u system' which seemed to work well, left it over night and got this error this morning:
Calculating system dependencies ...done!
>>> emerge (1 of 6) sys-apps/util-linux-2.11z-r4 to /
>>> md5 src_uri util-linux-2.11z.tar.bz2
>>> Unpacking source...
>>> Unpacking util-linux-2.11z.tar.bz2 to /var/tmp/portage/util-linux-2.11z-r4/work
* Applying util-linux-2.11z-parallel-make.patch... [ ok ]
* Applying no-symlink-resolve.patch... [ ok ]
* Applying util-linux-2.11z-script.patch... [ ok ]
!!! ERROR: sys-apps/util-linux-2.11z-r4 failed.
!!! Function src_unpack, Line 59, Exitcode 1
!!! MCONFIG Pam
Please help.
Thanks,

I think the two problems have different sources..
1) about web-rsync : are u running emerge behind a firewall ? If you do, it might explain why
2) the problem with util-linux doens't seem to have anything to do with the 1st problem. try to merge a different version, or look at the bug reports, or try to see if others have the same problem...

sounds like a config file problem to me, chech that you have the latest up to date make.defaults file, and that you didn't set anything strange in GENTOO_MIRRORS variable in any config files (like to *)
optionally try GENTOO_MIRRORS="rsync://rsync.gentoo.org" emerge rsync .. if that works then it's definately a config file problem |
