No problems removing/adding stuff to panels here. _________________ GCC-4.3.3-r1 - march=core2, gentoo-sources-2.6.30-r2 SMP x86_64 @ Core2Duo 2.4GHz, 4GB RAM |

That's what I meant, yes. Sorry. (In e, a shelf is translated (Swedish) to "panel", and since that's a English word, too, I didn't think twice about it. )
Anyway, I tried removing .e, starting off from scratch, but that didn't help. My e17-set is from todays CVS. Any ideas? |

I think so. My fps, as reported by glxgears, drops from about 1200 to 250. |

Holy crap. I'm happy to score around 950 fps!! If I cover the glxgears window with something else (like a terminal) I get up to 5400. But I think that's cheating....
Turning Bling on completely murders any illusions of usability.
!
BTW, I have to say I'm disappointed with empower - it's almost useless. Instead of running a GUI app with root permissions, it runs it with sudo. If the distinction evades you, try opening a terminal and typing Now try using gnomesu or kdesu instead of sudo. See the difference? _________________

I've got e17 on two machines. One is a dual Xeon with nVidia video and it runs bling really nice. Love the eye candy there. But I also have a Pentium-M laptop with i915 video and bling makes it painfully slow. Moving focus from one window to the P-M uses about 25% cpu power and it sometimes goes as high as 80% or more for extended periods of time. On the other machine, it uses less than 1% cpu power and it's running dual monitors as well. Being a laptop, I'm not sure if I want to keep using bling for battery savings if it's that much of a CPU hog.
Are there any tips for the i915/i810 driver and bling to make it usable? |

Still have the problem with some packages to fetch from cvs but it must be a gentoo retated:

can anybody give ma a hint to solve it?

2006-10-28 fetching version today - everything is OK; so it must have been cvs error; but if anybody could explain this fact - it can be helpful in the future

I'll take a look at that today...
I thought I'd give extrackt a shot, but after installing I get this when running the app:
Code: | [extrackt error]: "Cant stat device!"
[Etk-Warning] (etk_object.c:183 - etk_object_check_cast()):
Invalid cast from "Etk_Progress_Bar" to "Etk_Toolbar"

[Etk-Warning] (etk_object.c:183 - etk_object_check_cast()):

Segmentation fault
| Has anyone tried extrackt yet? Have you seen this? _________________

I'm experiencing a bit diffrent problem. I'm trying to get current CVS to work and i can't compile few "modules" like 'e', 'emotion', 'ewl' and few others. As a result i get (that one is from 'e' compilation):
Code: |

../../data/init/default.edc \
../../data/init/default.edj

I already tried recompiling edje, ecore, evas. Nothing helped. |

Does anybody know what file I have to edit to get enlightenment working? "enlightenment_start" gives me an Code: | execv: No File or directory | error, I can only assume that enlightement_start is pointing to "enlightenment" and not "enlightenment-0.17", and trying to run "enlightenment-0.17" directy is now giving me an error message telling me to use "enlightenment_start" |

My installation is a few days old, and enlightenment-0.17 still works. However, enlightenment_start does not work! It gives no error message, but it does not start e17 either.
So, I will probably not update for a couple of days more.
If you look at the cvs commits you will see that raster has recently committed some changes which forces people to use enlightenment_start
EDIT: Simply making the soft link Code: | ln -s /usr/bin/enlightenment-0.17 /usr/bin/enlightenment | seems to be enough to make enlightenment_start work properly. |

Oh, BTW, instead of editing scripts you can just Quote: | # entrance_edit --theme path-to-uberpinguin.edj | . _________________

Thanks, Enlightenment is now working again, and better then before, (no more SIGBART when I start it).
One thing that is puzzling me though is where the Engage module is. I've tried Code: | enlightenment_remote -module-load engage | but it gives me an error message saying "No module named engage/linux-gnu-i686/module.so could not be found.
PS I've tried uberpinguin.edj and it's fantastic. I've put it in /usr/share/entrance/themes/ as the obvious location, then you don't need to specify a path to the file, i.e. just type Code: | entrance_edit --theme "uberpinguin.edj" |

I'm glad you like it.
I'm stuck back in e16 right now - I can't get entrance to use the new enlightenment_start method! I tried modifying the appropriate line in /etc/X11/Sessions/e17 but that doesn't affect it. I made the symbolic link between /usr/bin/enlightenment-0.17 and /usr/bin/enlightenment, and that hasn't made a difference.
I _really_ don't want to go back to GDM. Does anyone know how to edit the window managers/desktops available in entrance? It looks like the old-school database method isn't used anymore.
[EDIT] This bug has a hint to the solution in it, though following its instructions verbatim will actually break things. I changed the /usr/share/xsessions/e17.desktop file to look like this:
Code: | [Desktop Entry]
Encoding=UTF-8
Name=E-17
Comment=Enter The Next Stage of Enlightenment
Type=Xsession
Exec=/usr/bin/enlightenment_start
TryExec=/usr/bin/enlightenment_start
| Now all is well. In fact, e17 starts up so fast I hardly have time to blink! _________________

Hmm, looking through the topics I realised hadn't emerged e_modules for a while, a long while, so I've tried to remerge it but it's not wanting to build.
Code: | In file included from add_todo_dialog.c:2:

dialog_func.h:37: error: expected ')' before '*' token |
also does anyone know if there is a dependancy tree out for those non core 9999 builds, as the enlightenment website just gives the basic 11. |
