Does anyone know of a cost effective or free version of Cold fusion released for linux which is possibly stable?

Id definately like to know too if there is but ive been looking and couldnt find anything that good for linux. The only thing you might want to try is Quanta, Bluefish or the Netscape one, i found so far that the netscape one is the best(easiest). |

Apache AND (PHP | JSP | Java Servlet | CGI)*
I have no idea what language ColdFusion uses, but I think it was something like ASP, wasn't it?
He thinks that ColdFusion is a composer... |

O right,
Yes it's a form of ASP but i'd rather not pay macromedias fees for a linux equivalent which isn't exactly the most stable thing on the market you understand.
I have a few clients who would like it....

Hmm... I think both of you should actually figure out what ColdFusion is. The language is NOTHING like ASP.
If you are looking for a server side scripting language like CF, use PHP, JSP, etc. However CF works very well on Linux. I'm running CF5 with RedHat 7.3 and CFMX on RedHat 9.0.
No complaints.

ASP stands for active server pages, although this is it's own language it is also a good discription for things like PHP and Coldfusion.
as for the server how much did you pay for it?

You can check out APACHE:ASP for asp style tags... Tomcat+Struts+Apache supports common tags and allows you a tighter framework to build off of. Apache+Perl(HTML::MASON) is built on a similiar tags based scheme, with the huge flexability of perl (this is not always benefical). There is no "free" coldfusion server that I know of. |

This is an ancient post, but in case anyone is looking, there is now a free CFML server; look for it on newatlanta.com, or go straight to
http://www.newatlanta.com/c/products/bluedragon/download/home.
It is a commercial product in competition with Macromedia's ColdFusion MX, but to be competetive, their free-as-in-beer version is actually usable as a production server, not a single-IP development server. If you somehow found this thread in the first place, this may be something that interests you. |
