I have a Asus M2N-SLI based system. I'm running gentoo 64 bit currently.
At the command line, with acpid running, I can turn off the system with the power button, with a fast press.
Doing the same while X is running hard-locks the system.

This system suspends to ram and disk flawlessly, and I have no other problems!..I booted with an ubuntu 32 bit livecd, and had the same issue. I also have the same issue after just launching TWM. So it's not DE related, or 64 bit specific problem....must be the hardware? I've updated the BIOS as well.

Does anyone have this motherboard and have similar issues? I haven't been able to find anything in google, except reviews for the motherboard stating 'excellent linux support'...which other than this minor problem I would agree...

Well, the problem goes away when I turn off the cool'n'quiet in the bios...

Seems like it would be nice to use that to preserve life of the processor......?

No one has this mobo?
