I have a microsoft bluetooth keyboard and mouse that has worked well for a couple of years. I wanted to connect my palm pilot to the same computer via bluetooth and had to buy a new dongle cuz the microsoft one apparently only supports the hid profile. I got the new dongle up and running but one problem is that the microsoft keyboard sometimes seems to want to connect to the new dongle instead of the microsoft dongle. This works but not always very well - it's just not as reliable. I need to figure out how to control which dongle the keyboard connects to. If I pull the new dongle and restart bluetooth then plug the new dongle in, that does the job, but it seems there should be a way to permanently configure the kb/mouse to the dongle.

one thing about this setup is that hcid.conf file I have now has only one device entry. Looking at the man page for hcid.conf, it seems like I should be able to set it up for multiple devices but it's not real clear on the exact syntax to do that. Does anyone have an hcid.conf with multiple devices configured? This would allow me to name the device. As it is now I can't really tell which device I'm looking at when viewed from the perspective of the palm pilot.

Check man hcid.conf where it explains how to define multiple devices.

well, as I already explained in my original post, man hcid.conf doesn't really specify the exat syntax, but here it is if anyone is interested..

device 00:00:00:00:00:00 {
}

or

device hci0 {
}

I'm still trying to figure out the rest. (i gotta stop typing - kb is going thru wrong ddddongle now. driving me nuts...
