Hi!
I have a home box that's allways online (xDSL). I want to connect to my box @ home from work, so i can see the acctual picture of the desktop.
I've tryed VNC but (comparing with VNC on win*) it just starts a new screen, it doesn't acctually show u the current screen i'm running (i dunno why is that?).
Is there any utility (like Terminal service for win*) so i would be able to work remote like i was sitting at home in front of my box?
thanx, zeky _________________ Beat your dick like it owes you money |

What do you mean by showing a 'new' screen? _________________ The idea of achieving security through national armament is, at the present state of military technique, a disastrous illusion. |

You want to "take over" the session in effect like an admin can do using terminal services on windows 2000? _________________ Where there's open source , there's a way. |

KDE 3.1.x includes a great Desktop Sharing utility. It uses the VNC protocol, but it'll share your current session rather than starting a new X session. You can configure via control panel to automatically start, allow remote sessions to take control, set a password, etc. Actual commands are krfb (the server) and krdc (client), although you can use any VNC viewer to connect. Not sure if you can share a non-KDE desktop, but you can run the server directly with krfb, so it's worth a try. Enjoy! |
