|
|
Hi all,
I have my wireless adaptor (Netgear MA111) running fine with no encryption on the network, but as most people down our road have wireless, and we have a fair amount of confidential files, it should be encrypted at the least.
I have set up a "test-rig" on a belkin access point, with the SSID "belkin54g" and a 64bit encryption of "a1b2c3d4e5" ( nice and easy, isn't it)
I have followed through the wiki page http://gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_Prism2_USB_on_Gentoo but its crashing out getting a DHCP address. knowing a bit about wireless networks, this happens, when a connection to the access point can be seen, but the encryption key can not be authenticated.
here's the output of dhcpcd -d wlan0:
Code: | Info, MAC address = 00:09:5b:b2:1d:97
Debug, broadcasting DHCP_REQUEST for 192.168.0.15
Debug, timed out waiting for DHCP_ACK response
Debug, broadcasting DHCP_DISCOVER
Error, timed out waiting for a valid DHCP server response |
(if you're wondering about why it knows about the IP address, thats because it was working with no encryption set atall)
here's my /etc/conf.d/wlan.conf file:
Code: | WLAN_DEVICES="wlan0"
ChannelList="01:02:03:04:05:06:07:08:09:0a:0b:00:00:00"
ChannelMinTime=200
ChannelMaxTime=250
WLAN_SCAN=n
TMPDIR=/tmp
SSID_wlan0="belkin54g"
ENABLE_wlan0=y
|
and here is my /etc/conf.d/wlancfg-belkin54g
Code: | lnxreq_hostWEPEncrypt=true
lnxreq_hostWEPDecrypt=true
dot11PrivacyInvoked=true
dot11WEPDefaultKeyID=0
dot11ExcludeUnencrypted=true
dot11WEPDefaultKey0=a1:b2:c3:d4:e5
IS_ADHOC=n
AuthType="sharedkey"
|
any help on getting this to work would be appreciated.
Thanks in advanced.

does nobody know the answer?
I don't mind re-configuring to use something other that linux-wlan-ng, as long as there is a wiki on it. I just need to be able to access secured networks from my MA111 USB adaptor on my laptop, as in the office it is a secured wireless, and as is my actual home network, but I currently have another accesspoint connected to my home network that is not encrypted, just so I can use it ![Sad :(](images/smiles/icon_sad.gif) |
