|
|
I'm using adesklets 0.5.0 which I emerged using ~X86 as accepted keyword; I had hoped to remedy the problem I already had with the stable 0.4.10, but it persists.
I'm trying to use the weatherforecast and quidnovi desklets in XFce 4. The former gathers weather info from weather.com, the latter uses an RSS feed to announce new desklets. It appears they're not getting any internet connection; at least that's what weatherforecast tells me a couple of minutes after starting. Started from a command line, these two desklets just cycle endlessly until stopped with Ctrl + C. I also tried the weather desklet with the same result; yet I can go online with all non-adesklet programs and the mailer adesklet works correctly, too.
I have no idea where to look for the root of the problem. Any pointers?
Edit: I have been mistaken about quidnovi, it works. It just seems to show new adesklets only after 01/01/06, of which there are none, so it is empty by default. It does turn up when I move the mouse over it.

Do you have dial-up or are you always on the internet. Here is my config file for weatherforcast. Check it with yours. Note that the web site is 'weather.com' with no 'www'. I am using version 5.0.

I've got an always on setup. I haven't changed the config file at all yet. With the exception of the correct location it should work that way.

Did you configure you mailer to check online mail or did you configure you mailspool? I am having trouble trying to the mailer working, and it is driving me nuts. I have both pop3 and imap, and I am trying to get either or working. Could you help me out a little? Any help is appreciated. _________________ http://www.geekbin.net |

Any update on this? I'm experiencing the same thing
Some quick inet search didn't reveal an obvious mistake I could have made, the README doesn't mention special precautions to be taken. I'm pretty lost at the moment.. |

No, I never got it to work, the only adesklet I'm still using is yab. And that just got broken during a world update.
